Richard Baines - Pretty Fly for a DJ
Headphones. Something about headphones seem to pump Richard up. That’s not to say he's not a people person (he is) and won't start up a conversation with random strangers in the supermarket (he will), he just gets into some sort of zone with those cans over his ears. Whether it's rocking a dance floor or navigating the Bay Area skies, his biggest adrenaline rushes seem to happen with headphones on. Granted, flying a Cessna 152 airplane (he has nicknamed it the "Super Go Fast") has a few more buttons and controls than a mixing board, but the rush is all the same to Rich. "There's this moment of pure energy that you get when the dance floor is packed and you know people are having a great time," he explains,"I get that same feeling every time I'm flying a plane."
While he wouldn't consider himself an adrenaline junkie, he admits that he loves being outside and enjoying the weather around the Bay in a bunch of different ways. His favorite ground-level activity? Well that would be running. Whether it's cross-country on the hills, long-distance by the beach, whatever the terrain may be, just hand him his iPod (he wisely chooses earbuds when running) with his Classic Rock playlist and off he goes. Not exactly sure what it is, but believe us, there's something about the dude and his headphones that people just can't get enough of.
